Initiated in 2017, Les Pupitres de la Cayolle is a participative artistic creation project that is carried out in the Cayolle area, located south of Marseille. Residents, associations and schools bring together their “orchestra desks” to create a musical tale conceived by the composer Maël Bailly and the writer Katell Guillou.

Through a quest for different sound identities, a collective artistic production is created, nourished by instrumental, percussion and electro-acoustic workshops. The Ensemble C Barré joins this unusual and intergenerational orchestra with a trio of musicians (percussion, mandolin and cello).

The participative project will give rise to two performances: the first on 10 May 2019 at the opening of the Les Musiques au Grand Plateau festival at the Friche la Belle de Mai and a second on 13 May in a reduced version at the Maison du Quartier La Cayolle.

In partnership with the CIQ les Hauts de Mazargues la Cayolle, the Abiho Calanques association, the Calanques de Sormiou school group, the Collège du Roy d’Espagne, the Théâtre du Centaure, the ESAT “Les Argonautes”, the Conseil Départemental des Bouches-du-Rhône, the SACEM, the Copie Privée and the Réseau Canopé.
