The C Barré Wind Trio is a spin-off of the ensemble of the same name, led by Sébastien Boin. Annelise Clément on clarinets, Matthias Champon on trumpets, and Joël Versavaud on saxophones were chosen for their individuality, their backgrounds, and their open-mindedness. They juggle all styles of playing, even the most unexpected, and are themselves a source of inspiration for composers. A keen ear cultivated over the Ensemble C Barré’s ten-year history, a shared joy in high standards, and mutual trust and respect have given rise to a desire for a coordinated repertoire and outreach. Their experiences and collaborations are rich and varied: prestigious orchestras and ensembles (Radio France, Auvergne, Picardie, Île-de-France, Marseille, Cannes, Toulon, Bordeaux, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ars Nova, Musicatreize, l’Itinéraire, Le Balcon, Les Dissonances, La Rizonanza, Sinfonietta…), circus and dance companies, in classical and baroque music, musical theater, improvisation, and jazz…
All three are certified teachers with extensive and in-depth experience. They are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and are skilled at doing so with audiences from all walks of life, for example by dynamically showcasing the richness of the clarinet family (including the contrabass clarinet) and the saxophone family (from sopranino to baritone), not to mention the variety of mutes for trumpets. Their repertoire includes adaptations of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Inventions, new works (by François Rossé, Alessandro Bosetti, and others), original trios (by Théo Loevendie), and, of course, combinations of solos or duets tailored to specific requests from programmers (Scelsi, Berio, Alla, Robin, Markeas, and others). A policy of commissioning works from composers has also been launched.
