The C Barré Wind Trio is part of the ensemble of the same name, directed by Sébastien Boin.
Annelise Clément on clarinets, Matthias Champon on trumpets and Joël Versavaud on saxophones were chosen for their personalities, their backgrounds and their open-mindedness. They juggle all kinds of playing styles, including the most unexpected, and are themselves a source of inspiration for the creators.
Over the ten years that the Ensemble C Barré has been in existence, they have listened carefully to each other’s work, shared a joy in the demands they make, and built up a mutual respect and complicity that has given rise to a desire to work together on repertoire and dissemination.
Their experience and collaborations are rich and varied: prestigious orchestras and ensembles (Radio France, Auvergne, Picardie, Île-de-France, Marseille, Cannes, Toulon, Bordeaux, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ars Nova, Musicatreize, l’Itinéraire, Le Balcon, Les Dissonances, La Rizonanza, Sinfonietta…), circus and dance companies, in classical music, baroque, musical theatre, improvisation and jazz…
All three are qualified teachers with extensive experience. They are keen to pass on their knowledge, and know how to do so to audiences of all horizons, for example by presenting in a dynamic way the richness of the clarinet family (up to double bass) and saxophones (from sopranino to baritone), not forgetting the variety of mutes for trumpets.
The repertoire includes adaptations of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Inventions, new works (François Rossé, Alessandro Bosetti, etc.), original trios (Théo Loevendie) and, of course, combinations of solos or duos in response to specific requests from programmers (Scelsi, Berio, Alla, Robin, Markeas, etc.). A policy of commissioning works from composers has also been launched.
